Custom Thermoformed Plastic Trays | Plastic Clam Shells

trays Custom Thermoformed Clam Shells

Our accomplished, knowledgeable staff has experience in virtually every material handling situation. Our engineers can take your part, prints or CAD files and design a custom tray that will protect your parts. We have designed thousands of trays, containers, pallets as well as medium to heavy gauge parts from the ground up to meet our customers’ exact specifications.

Extremely durable, our reusable dunnage trays extend packaging life for multiple return trips to reduce costs. In fact, our trays will likely last well beyond the time your product becomes obsolete. And if that happens, we offer a buyback program for credit on your next order. It’s a way of helping the environment and your budget.
trays ADDED PROTECTION

We can custom design your tray to give you the best protection during shipping. For example, we can design trays durable enough to take the weight off your product, so there’s no stress or weight transfer through your product during shipping.

plastic pallets Custom Thermoformed Twin Sheet Plastic Pallet.

This Pallet was designed for a leading manufacturer of footwear and apparel.
Features: Size: 48" wide x 48" long stack able plastic pallet. Materials: HMWPE Black with a starting gauge of .187" for both sheets. Approximate weight: 32 pounds. Four-way forklift and 2 way pallet jack entry. Pallet has a white stripe to locate the entry points for order pickers and pallet jacks. Other colors are available. Steel riveted around the perimeter of the pallet base for extra strength. Conveyor straps are beveled for easier pallet jack entry and exit. Drain holes in each of the support columns (legs).
plastic pallet What is thermoforming?

Thermoforming is a generic term for the process of producing plastic parts from a flat sheet of plastic under temperature and pressure. In the highest expression of the technology, thermoforming offers close tolerances, tight specifications, and sharp detail. When combined with advanced finishing techniques, high-technology thermoforming results in products comparable to those formed by injection molding.
plastic pallets What are the benefits of thermoforming?

Thermoforming is efficient and very cost-effective for the production of many plastic parts depending on their size, shape, and quantity. Initial project costs are usually much lower, and lead times to tooling and production are generally much shorter than other processes.
plastic pallet Need a reason to choose plastic pallets over conventional wood pallets or other types of pallets?

Pllastic pallets weigh significantly less making them easier to lift and handle safely. Because they're reusable and recyclable, plastic pallets are also more environmentally friendly. Our plastic pallets are also manufactured through plastic thermoforming to meet established Federal International Standards. For wood pallets to meet these standards, they must go through heat treatment and fumigation processes - costly steps which plastic pallets eliminate.

Plastic pallets are designed through plastic thermoforming for durability, making them a much more cost effective choice than wood pallets which often fall apart in mere months. When you consider the years of service your plastic pallets will provide, the savings can really add up.
Thermoformed Pallets Feature:
Mirror Image: This plastic pallet can be used both as a base pallet and a top cap for sleeve packs or tray packs. When used as a top cap, the legs interlock with the pallet beneath.
Standard Nine Legs: A standard base plastic pallet with nine legs for increased stability and strength.
Twin Sheet: Two sheets of heated plastic are vacuumed formed into their respective molds, then pressed together, forming a sturdy bond along the perimeter and select points of the pallet. This process allows materials of different composition, thick nesses, and color to be fused, creating a sturdier, more attractivepallet.
Reinforced: To provide extra load strength, aluminum bars are formed directly into the pallet.

Thermoforming Glossary

VACUUM-FORMING: In this process, a sheet of heated plastic is positioned over a male or female mold. The mold is then moved into the sheet, creating a seal, and vacuum suction is applied to draw out air between the sheet and the mold. After a water-cooling system in the mold cools the formed plastic, air is blown back through the mold to separate the part from the mold.

TWIN-SHEETING: Using a combination of pressure-forming and vacuum-forming, this process is used as an alternative to structural foam and blow molding to create parts of superior strength. Two sheets of plastic are formed on separate molds, then brought together and form-welded at multiple contact points, sealing the parts together. This allows hollow areas to remain throughout the completed part. These areas can then be filled with rigid foam or inserts can be placed between the two sheets to provide additional strength.

PRESSURE-FORMING: This process uses compressed air to “push” on the backside of pressure-formed material to create a greater level of detail on the outer surface. This offers the ability to add texture, form sharper corners for better logo or letter definition and create a tighter fit from part to part. Pressure-forming often offers a superior, more economical alternative to injection molding.

VACUUM THERMOFORMING: Any process of forming thermoplastic sheet that is heated and forced to contact a mold surface and cooled to retain its shape.

HEAVY GAUGE: Commonly, a sheet with a thickness of 120 mils (0.120 inches or 3 mm) or greater.

MEDIUM GAUGE: Commonly, a sheet thickness between 60 mils (0.060 inches or 1.55 mm) and 120 mils (0.120 inches or 3 mm).
